Near the shore of Haliburton Lake, this school for the arts was built to provide studio spaces for practicing fine art, pottery and blacksmithing, as well as administrative offices, classrooms, a multi-purpose space and a Great Hall. Structurally, it employs a unique combination of structural steel and timber framing, featuring locally harvested hemlock donated by the Haliburton Forest that was crafted onsite. The Great Hall features light, galvanized cable bracing and heavy timber members. The classroom and studio roofs employ a pretension cable truss system.
