  • Location

David Pecaut Square, Metro Hall, Toronto

  • Area

    30,000 square feet

  • Program

Installation of a 600 ft. long x 25’ high ribbon that snaked its way through David Pecaut Square in Downtown Toronto where a main stage and corporate sponsor tents would have to be incorporated into the master plan as well as massive ballast and scaffold towers to support the ribbon. The innovation was incorporating the stage and sponsor areas into the scaffolding structure seamlessly by modifying the scaffold bays and waterproofing areas above sponsor kiosks.
Another element of the installation were several 20’ tall windsock masts that were constructed of 5” dia. HSS masts connected to steel Wshape X-bases. The windsocks were attached to industrial fans mounted on an articulating armature that allowed for programmed, choreographed motorized movement. The steel beams at the mast bases were fitted with wood tops to serve as benches for the public.
